DressCode Check-in: Devohn Walker, Stylist

Boy Crazy, DressCode, Jobs

I will never forget the moment I met celebrity stylist Devohn Walker. It was a Tuesday night and I had just parked outside the club to meet with friends. Approached from behind by a sweet voice asking for directions to Goldbar, I was certainly surprised when I turned around and laid eyes on Walker: a petite kid sporting sunglasses at night in a futuristic head-to-toe jet black ensemble for which he accentuated with Mickey Mouse ears nestled atop his two-toned high-top fade. Headed there ourselves, I told him to tag along with my friends and I; we knew all the Tuesday night regulars and he was not one. He definitely stood out!

Legendary Damon’s Goldbar parties were where the eccentric fashion types migrated, or “costume kids” as Daver Campbell calls them. There is where I met the first albino male supermodel Shaun Ross, women’s wear designer LaQuan Smith –back when he wore platform Christian Louboutin boots religiouslyand accessories designer twins Coco & Breezy. I did not know Walker at the time but when I found this video I immediately recognized him. I wonder where he is from originally; he says his vintage sunglasses are from St. Louis, most likely the awesome consignment shop in the U-City Loop I used to sell my clothes while in high school…
